This one is a mystery to me. My wife drives our '09 Aveo 95% of the time, mostly to work. Yesterday she told me that the clock was reading the wrong time, off by several hours. No one had driven the car but her. She didn't touch any of the clock buttons. The car was always locked when not in use. Nothing else on the car has been affected. :confused1:
Any ideas? :dontknow:
Does it go Tick-Tock, or just Tick-Tick?

clock memory fuse?
are only the hours off or the minutes off too? If the hours are off, then chances are, someone changed them. If the hours AND minutes are off, then check that fuse.

owners manual 5-76 5-77 there is 3 clk,radio fuses? 2 in side 1 under the hood.?

Ok found 2 fuses clk, radio on side of dash but the one incased in black plastic? how do I remove it? top one was good.
Has anyone ever get the lower 10a clk,Radio fuse out? I pulled it out with the black case but could not remove the fuse? Radio has clock on it and the stock clock never worked so I left it pulled out. No more stock clock.
Its tricky to get those out. You have to get them to unhook inside the fuse panel somehow. I saw someone do it but didnt catch how. Any way before putting them back he cut the tabs so they wouldnt hook any more but still had the covers.
There is no possibility that anyone changed anything. I can personally guarantee that.Quote:

This is an '09 with the clock mounted on the dash where the passenger airbag indicator light is also located. If there is a fuse for it, where is it located?
Other than a clock that's gone haywire, what else could it be?
If it's not the clock module itself, it's going to be a problem in the 12V circuit that supplies it - it's behaving as if had momentarily lost 12V. Sounding like a flaky module, but would be worth checking battery and terminals. Corrosion can behave oddly, passing a high current draw for the starter or lights, while starving a miniscule draw like the clock.Quote:

The car is barely two years old, always garaged, exceptionally clean under the hood. I know that battery terminals can become oxidized, increased resistance, etc., but believe me - if ever there were a situation where it doesn't look that way, this is it.Quote:

My dash clock only lasted half a year and then it would only randomly work, GM replaced it under warranty and that one stopped working about the same amount of time. My solution, unplug it. I have an aftermarket head-unit for my stereo and I just use that clock. The only thing with unplugging it is that your warning lights won't work but who cares these cars are indestructible.
This thread reminds me of that meme "first world problems".........
REmove the clock and dissassemble it. It only clips together. Replace diode D1. 1n4007 This will solve the problem.
Replacing a diode will stop it from resetting? I've been having this problem with my 09 Aveo5 and it's driving me crazy. I checked both the fuses that the manual says affect the clock and they were both intact, though I replaced them anyway. Makes me want to hurry up and get a new stereo HU just so I can have a clock that keeps time.
Its a common issue with the Aveo's, the clock modules die. All you can do is replace it...Quote:

Realize that I've had two different problems with my POS clock: the first one was that it constantly reset itself to a wrong time. It was replaced under warranty with a new clock. Now, less than a year later, it keeps proper time but the display goes blank about half of the time, on and off. Have you spoken with your dealership? If the part was replaced at a GM dealership it may still be warrantied. I understand that some dealerships may provide a frustrating experience but it may be worth it to call and see if the clock is warrantied. I am available to call for you if you would like. Thought I'd share my recent experience with clock issues. Recently ran into the clock not keeping the correct time. It would be resetting to it's 1:00 at some point while it was parked so it was 3:00ish, 4:00ish, or whatever by the time I'd go to use the car again. Started to get more frequent over a couple weeks to the point it would reset to 1:00 most of the time I'd start it. I figured I was due for a clock replacement but I'd figure I'd check the basics first. I made sure all the fuses were well pressed in, and then I pulled the correct fuse and cleaned the contact points on the fuse. Then I popped the cover off the clock, unscrewed it and made sure the connection was pushed in tightly. Put everything back and it hasn't done it for a couple weeks. Not once. *Knock on wood*, but maybe that's all it was. I'm wondering if a bad connection leads to a 'diode' or whatever shorting out in the clock eventually.

I simply refuse to have anything to do with our "Stealership" because of two bad experiences. One was the idiots at the "Quick-Lane" cracked my oil pan. After the first "free" oil change, I was in my Buddies Garage going to do an Oil Change myself. I had a long ratchet the length of a torque wrench and couldn't get the oil plug loose. I finally "broke" it loose and when I did the pan split about 5 inches from the bolt to towards the front of the car. (Dad told me later that it most likely had been cracked since the dealer serviced it) I didn't know what to do, I couldn't afford to have it towed or taken to a shop, and was NOT taking it back to the dealer. I called my dad and he came over, we took it off cleaned it inside and out and he said he had an idea. I said Ok and took it home and then we proceeded to welded it. You have to preheat aluminum due to how well it dissipates heat. That was nearly 8 months ago and has been fine ever since. That weld is "stronger" than the pan now, the only way it would break would be in an accident.
The second incident was the next morning after we fixed it, I went back to the dealer and demanded to know why this had happened. They of course denied it, this is my first car afterall and I was SO BEYOND pissed. They offered to move it into the bay and look at it, I refused and said no you can crawl out there and look underneath it. That being said, I demanded that if they didn't look up the book cost of a new oil pan and pay me the full retail price that I was going to call the police. (I know this most likely would've been futile) The three of them stood there for what seemed like 5 minutes and they said Ok. They paid me the book price of $136.xx for a new oil pan. I said Thank You, and I will NEVER return to this crooked establishment. I said just wait until you guys screw up some sweet little old lady's brand new cadillac or something. You'll think I was the nicest person on the planet. /endrant
Oh! And you would think that Jackie and the other reps would realize that people come here for questions and advice because they hate the DEALERS!!! Would one of the Admins care to "chime-in" and explain why they have been allowed to annoy everyone up until this point???
Remove 2009 chevy aveo clock that continually resets. The problem is mine DOES NOT have a d1 diode only two empty holes. I have a 1n4007 diode but the clock doesn't! I will post a picture.
Hopefully the photos added.

I know this is an old post, but I have the same issue as Timosoren. 2009 with no diode in D1, so I went ahead and added one...
I didn't find any cold joints or any other issues with the board, but when I plug it in without the housing, I can make LED's D3 and D4 flicker. I put it all back together and still have a dim D3 LED but after a couple days the clock still has the correct time.
Not sure if it was the taking it apart or adding the diode that fixed it.
It could've been a combination of either, to be honest. Those modules are simply a flawed design, they literally "bake" in the sun over time and it plays hell with their circuits.
Mine *knocks on wood* has been fine since I changed it over two years ago, but I've used a sun shade ever since I got the car. This new module hasn't been exposed to nearly as much direct sun as the old one most likely was. What I still find odd is that the factory module died after 6 months. lol
Most usually end up with a broken solder joint because of the constant micro expanding and contracting from temperature change, the diode most likely fixed it for you in your case. :D

Well, nice while it lasted.... It was on a random time when I drove it today.
I am new here as just got car for a work car and put new clutch and battery in it. Once done i noticed the clock going to 1:00 after every key cycle. Also my radio is completly dead. Nothing. I don't care much about the clock, but want to get radio working again. Any one have ideas? Not any fuses as check them all. Thanks
Did you make sure you have power at the fuses? The AUX button on my radio doesn't do anything, I think the electronics in these cars are just sub par. Hope GM made the ECU...
Do you know if you had a radio before? if so it sounds like the memory circuit. There is a fuse for that, check power to it.
Had the same problem with the clock. Fixed it by tightening the battery clamps as they were loose.
Heat and cold played a big role as metals expand and contract, resulting in my car loosing power.
