      Steering wheel locked. Key broken.

So I do not have a spare key. The tip of my key broke off into the ignition cylinder. And the ignition cylinder is in the lock position. The steering wheel won't move.. What are my options here? Any one have experience with this? Does the cylinder need to be in accessory or something g so I can change it out????

Its a long story 😂 I just want to fix this so I can get rid of the darn car.

is it an automatic or manual transmission? If it's an auto, pop off the gearshift cover from the center console, and there should be a hidden button that releases the car from park to neutral (old tow truck driver's trick). Akso, there shouls pe a pin hole near the ignition switck that you can stick a bent paperclip into to release the ignition switch from it's locked position.

Genuine GM replacement with key at rockauto.com for under $25 usd

As far as turning the key to acc...you might be ab;e to put the rest of the broken key into the cylinder, and trick it into switching by wiggling it around

Same thing happened to me, with an 06 5 speed, I used a small pick to dislodge the broken piece out.

if you contact GM. with the VIN, you can order a new set. You will need to prove ownership of the Vehicle.

So copies of Drivers License, Registration, Insurance, and Plate number.

Don't know if you still need advice. Put the rest of the key in the ignition, sometimes the steering wheel is loaded up and you need to turn the key while trying to turn the steering wheel and see if that takes the pressure off. Another trick is to put super glue on the end of the broken key and quickly insert it into the lock and let it set for a minute. Otherwise you have to pull the steering wheel to access the lock set screw. One very, very important step is to disconnect the battery for about ten minutes to avoid possible air bag deployment, no fun.
