starts idles for a time, dies, can back out of garage, dies

no codes, may run 6-10 minutes, dies, if i sit with my foot on the gas, at 1500 rpm it may run there for 10 minutes then loop hunt (1000-2000-1000-2000-1500 steady again) or may just die outright.

there is no fuel filter on this car, and i know i can get to the pump from under the back seat, but would rather not unless i can tell exactly what it is, its acting like a fuel filter is plugged, but there aint one.

though it might be the map sensor tube, so replaced that with a piece of 1/4 in fuel line (no vacuum hose at oreillys, and no smaller sizes like the plastic tube with the elbows on it).

was doing this before i changed that so obviously not that.

whats bothering me is no codes, so its something thats either not being processed by the ECM or the ECM itself is bad???

Technically, there is a fuel filter. It's just a part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank

Fuel isn't a "code monitored" part of the car. Base on your description, I doubt you wold have codes because I don't think you are making out of start up. I have seen a few faulty fuel pump relays with your symptoms. try switching it out and seeing if it stays running. If not, I am afraid you will be pulling the pump if you are sure it is the fuel dropping. Have you checked the pressure at the rail?

ok, where to start LOL. went to harbor freight (mind you i live in the middle of nowhere IA) in des moines, hour there get master fuel pressure kit (with coupon half off) go lunch, go shop some (wife) come home, hook it up, 55psi...steady as a rock.

i've been chasing a coolant drip for a while now, found it. turned into a pinhole leak that was spraying coolant all over the forward lower electrical. fix that, start it up, it stays running now long enough to get a timing light on each of the wires, #2 wire flash-flash-nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thing-flash-noooooooooooooooooooooooothing...

replace #2 plug, drive to caseys, get pop drive around town...its all good again.

the leak was on the bypass hose on the damn stupid thrermostat housing, i hate that freaking thing since you cant get the o-ring that wraps around the thermostat without buying the whole damn thing. (sorry, did i mention i hate it)
