speedometer problems

i have an 08 aveo and most the speedometer went out.

the speed is off and will continue to drift further from the correct speed.
rpm not moving whatsoever.
gas is off by 1/4 tank, it just goes way bellow the empty line.

millage works.

im a delivery driver so a working dashboard is a must. ive asked autoshops and they said they wont touch it, they will send it to the manufacture. itll cost $500.

also since its broke now ive seen ppl put new led back lights, id like to but would i ask the repair shop?

Depending on your options, I believe you could just stick a used display in there. Which could be as little as $35 off eBay.

I have heard different reports on the Immobilizer and the cluster, none have proved true to me, but I haven't done the aveo.
Just put it in yourself. There is a DIY on here that you could follow that does the LED swap I believe. I think you could put those in too, again depending on your options again.

It could be you might have a ground issue. Before replacement (not a bad idea) you can use some electronic cleaner and spray the connector to the wiring harness.

Cool. Thanks. I'll try both. Seen the clusters for $50 ish. If it Dosent work I think it's wires. Noticed my fog lights and stuff go out. A week later they go back on. It's normally one at a time.
