      searched-Engine code p0597, p0598

I drive a 2009 Aveo5 LT. The car only has 33k miles on it. Oil has been changed properly since I've owned it. Only had it for a little over 6 months. Over the past few days my engine light has been coming on for a couple days, then going back off for a couple days, then back on and so forth. Well, it came back on today so I took it to Auto-zone to get the code ran for free. It came up with two codes, p0597 and p0598. If I remember correctly they meant something to do with thermostat controller, or bad wiring. We (me and the employee) noticed that when we pulled the codes on the computer, it said it was for a Volkswagen. Anybody else ever had this sort of problem? The car itself runs fine for the most part. It does has a little hiccup every now and then while idling at a red light.

are you positive those were the codes?

p0597 and p0598 say heater control related?
(only thing other than replacing it is checking connection or if you have an aftermarket radio or something..)

i dont see why either would come up as vw unless his cheap scanner mis-crossreferences vag codes into one of those numbers.

Yeah I have no idea why it came up as vw. I'm going to set up an appointment with the chevy place this afternoon to see what they can come up with. Everything is still stock on my car, even the sound system. Not sure why its giving me codes. Heater works fine, temps are normal. It gave me both of those codes twice.

adding "coolant thermostat" into the definition helps. I would check that, but not sure if the heater control checks coolant temp? i'd have to look into it.

I'm new to the Aveos so I'm not sure about anything on them yet. I've always had imports that I knew about. I got an appointment with the dealership today at 1:30 so I'll see what they say. It's still under the 100k mile warranty so I figured I'd at least see what they got to say about it. I'll post it up here when I get done.

Well I have access to the Service Manuals being a GM tech for Buick/GMC so if you guys need anything lemme know and I'll be more than happy to help however I can. I'm new to the Aveo (Korean Cars in general) as well but I'm sure I can figure it out.

That's good to know, thanks for the help. So the dealership that I had planned on going to today failed to mention that it is no longer a chevy dealership. It is now a kia place. They wanted me to drop my car off so they could send it to another dealership. I can't leave me car for that long because I have school and work to go to. Now I gotta wait until Friday morning to take it to another place that's around me. Hopefully this one will still be a chevy place.

I just had the same problem with my 2009 Aveo5 LT. I have 13,000 miles on it and the engine light is on. I went to Auto Zone and they said it was Code P0597. I just wanted to make sure I could drive it safely for a few days until I get it into the dealer. I have the warranty of course, but I hate being without a car. I'm a single parent and it is so inconvenient. Car seems to be running fine.
