Looked at bulbs and fuse .. couldn't find anything. I have looked around the web and saw where the reverse light switch bolts onto the transmission.
This is annoying .. timing belt at 37,000 , ignition coil at 45,000 , plugs , clock resets , and leaking anti-freeze in bottom right corner of drivers side.
Looks like yet another fun issue to deal with .
Thanks for the reply
My reverse lights stopped working as well. Dealer replaced the relay and I was good to go.
i believe it is in the under hood fuse box.
PR, in the 09-11 it isnt. I would guess under the kick panel under the dash though, however 2010aveoLT knows about more electrical doo-hickeys on our cars than me lol, he will probably know where it is
My 08 had a delay for the lights coming on in the cold (-30F). Only happened once. IIRC There is a bulletin on this somewhere. I know I saw one for stuck in reverse gear for RPO D16 (09-07-29-001). I do not know where the switch is as of yet. HTHY.
Ok , still no luck . To behonest not sure where all to look. Checked fuses and relays under hood any ideas where else to look ?
Thanks

Ok , here's my detailed follow up. I have an 09 aveo with a 5 speed manual transmission. My back up (reverse ) lights were not working. After checking the bulbs , fuses and relays I got under the car. At 11oclock on the top of the transmission facing the drivers side I found a switch with a black and a green wire connected to it. I disconnected the plug and took a 3/4 in. open end wrench and removed the back up light switch. I went to a local advance auto got an S9211 back up light switch. Put it in tightened it up reconnected the wires and now I have reverse lights again..
Frostbyte:
I hope you got the impression to check the reverse switch from my previous post. I appreciate the follow up and even the pn for the switch.
When you say 11 o'clock: are you talking about standing at the driver side wheel and looking toward the center of the trans, with 11 being on the radiator side?
The wiring colors should help next time I am under my car (which is an '08 lol) I took the picture of my car out of "my garage" and now it is not being displayed under my name. "add car" is displayed now :( maybe pictures soon if there's something worth looking at :)
Thanks frostbyte !!! Your advice was *perfect*. I went out in the garage this morning (Sunday) in my pajamas and replaced the switch as you described. It was exactly where you said it was, needed a 3/4 inch deep socket or wrench. The cost of the part at Advance Auto Parts = $22.46 after tax. This was done on my wife's 2009 Aveo LS. Thank you SO MUCH for your help and advice. You're a good man !! JK 3/26/2017
Hi
Can anyone tell me where to find the fuse and the relay for the reverse light on Aveo 2009 please. Both lights stopped working.
Thank you
