Remote will unlock but not lock doors

Daughter borrowed her mother's 2005 Aveo and said the locks were not working properly. I suspected weak fob remote battery and replaced it. I now see that the issue is actually that door locks will not lock.

It sounds like it is trying to lock, but does not. The alarm system does arm.
I can lock all the doors manually using the key in the drivers side door.

The fob will deactivate the alarm and unlock the doors.

Any ideas?

linkage? what does it do? do you see the door lock plunger move at all?

Check to make sure the wire plugs are making good connection all plug in.
If the rods did not pop off and it trying to work but does not. It most likely the power Latch plunger is gone bad.

When you lock it with the remote does only the driver's door not lock ou do all the doors not lock. If it's just the drivers door, then I'd say weak actuator or binding linkage. If it is all the doors, I'd look for the alarm module and clean/grease the connector.

Just went and tested .

When I use remote to lock, none of the door locks move or lock. The alarm is armed however.

When I use the remote to unlock, all doors unlock and the alarm is turned off .

No this is the original problem.
Car will not lock using fob.
There seemed to be confusion on the issue so i just was clarifying the situation.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention.

All my doors are manual so I can't give you any first hand advice. My best (only?) advice is to google or youtube the problem and see what happens. Good luck.

i would pull one door apart and see if the actuators are getting a power signal to lock, if it is then check the doors, if it is not it is going to be part of the central lock system..

can someone please answer this question in plain english because last answer makes no sense the problem is the key remote does not lock the door it arms the alarm but doesnt lock the door
