Question about wheel bearings

My 2004 Chevy Aveo needs a wheel bearing so Iboutht a pair of front wheel bearings. My coworker is gonna help me install them. He said which bearings I have. Apparently there's inner and outer wheel bearings? I thought it was one bearing on each hub and that was it? Or do some cars have one wheel bearing and others 2 on each side of the front? Dam this Aveo has so many suspension noises lol
