      No response from gas pedal

      Hi Guys,
New member here so be nice

aveo 2009 53000km ( canada), automatic transmission, no CEL, car is running for aprox. 30 min.

When i'm driving in the traffic everything is smooth, than i leave the gas pedal , hit the break until complete stop of the car. When i hit the gas pedal again to go foward and follow the traffic nothing happens, engine is running at idle and stay at idle . I have to turn the key off and on and then the gas pedal start working normally. It is the third event.

I had a few issue with rough idle , air filter , spark plugs, oxygen sensor are new and a new programation of a
engine computer ( not ECU) have been done since then no rough idle anymore . Maybe it is two different problem or maybe they are related.

anybody had the same problem or have an idea of what could be the cause?

Is it the gas pedal '' module/sensor'' or throttle body at fault ( its hard to t/s since no CEL)?

      Thanks

I have look at the throttle body ans it looks pretty dirty a lot a black gunk behind the butterfly ( do i have to remove the TB from the engine to clean it or i can shoot the cleaner in th TB where he is normally install on the engine?), my question is . If the butterfly doesn't match the position on the gas pedal does a CEL should come on?

      Thanks

yes it will through a code if the sensors dont match. Mine used to die when i came to a stop i had to replace tb to fix mine but if you can get by with cleaning it do that.

Thanks clasic67 for you help, but that's the thing, mine doesn't die when i stop, the rpm just don't rev anymore it stays at idle. How about cleaning the TB, should i just spray the cleaner right into it? My only concern is that all the fluid and the dirt will flow further down the intake since the TB is position verticaly and not horizontaly.

TB removed, cleaned very goodand re-installed. I went to the local garage nearby and he thinks that could be either the pedal module or TB to be at fault and not giving any code

The accelerator pedal assembly itself is an electronic unit. On my 2009 (bought new) it was found to be faulty and replaced by a dealership under warranty when it was only three months old. Mine is an automatic and it was shifting erratically. You might want to check with Chevy on this and see whether it is covered under warranty.

Didn't the 2009 have 5 years / 160k warranty? If so, bring it to the dealer bud.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

      Hi Eric

For the American market the pedal is not considered a part of the powertrain. However I see that you are in Canada. You can call Canadian customer service number to find out if this is different in Canada. Here is the number.
