My Timing belt broke at a stop light while at an idle, I knew what happened so I did NOT try to start the engine.
What do I do Now, did this DAMAGE my ENGINE??????????????????

Year/Miles?
Most likely the valves are bent and you will need new valves or another head, along with a timing belt job of course (belts, ALL PULLIES, water pump, etc).
Rarely, things can also break in the lower block, but not often.
Yes, I am interested in how many miles, also. It won't help you but it might help someone else. Thanks.
I hope that the damage to your engine is slight, or even, hopefully, none.
It will help me :D
Is that what you ate this morning? ;)
That is a great pun though, I need to reply only with pictures for now on.
belltroy, where are you? we never heard back about the year and miles of you vehicle. also, whether your engine was damaged.
yes, it WOULD help if we knew your Year, Make, and model... but any way you look at it, your top end is probably Attachment 5447.

Best timing belt thread yet!
There is only one way to find out. Well, not just one way, but definately not the most expensive way. Get a timing kit (belt, tensioner, idler, and water pump), install it, try to do a compression test (or just try to start the motor). I did just that. I purchased my 05 with a "bad timing belt". It turned out that the idler pulley had shattered into many pieces and allowed the cam timing to go so far out of spec, the motor would not run. I got lucky. I just purchased a timing kit and it's been running just fine ever since.
Purchased the car for $100. Timing kit from Rock Auto was $125 shipped to my door. Add about $10 worth of coolant, and I had purchased a great running fuel sipper for $235 total.
