Hey everyone,

I have a 2004 manual with ~200k km. One day my car started making a loud droning noise at speed, similar to a bad wheel bearing, but different than my previous experiences. The noise corresponds with road speed, not engine speed. Gets louder on deceleration and is only present when driving straight, going around a bend in either direction silences it completely.

I've since changed to my summer tires with no change, and the noise is still present with the front end jacked off the ground so I've ruled out tires.

Having done 6 wheel bearings on this car already, I immediately just figured it was time again. Testing each side independently, they were almost equally loud which is not what I usually come across. I changed the bearing on the side I thought was louder but it didn't make any difference.

If it's not the wheel bearing, what else could it be? Bearing in the transmission/final drive? CV axle? I'm stumped what to do next for diagnosing this one.

Any help is appreciated.
