Hesitation on 2006 Aveo
Hey there guys. Ive been having some hesitation on my 06' Aveo recently. The car has 97k+ miles and it is just now starting to have problems. First thing in the morning when I start the car and the engine is cold, I will get hesitation from the motor when I first go to accelerate. I notice it happening when I barley tap the accelerator down about 5-15%. After the engine warms up, the problem almost disappears. Then when I was driving to work one day on the freeway, my car did not want to accelerate anymore. I pulled over and had a CEL, the code was P0139 I think (I dont remember exactly, im not home rigt now). I replaced both the upper and lower O2 sensors but I am still having the same issue. I have replaced the entire Throttle body not too long ago so I do not think it is the TPS sensor. I also had some pinging. So I removed my spark wires and noticed that one of the cylinders had some gas coming out of them even with the spark plug in place. I removed the spark plugs and put them back in a little tighter. Anybody have any Ideas?

if there was enough gas to have it coming out, that spark plug is washed. You ned to pull it out dry clean or replace. Also if there was enough gas that it was coming out are the plug, you might have a big issue in that cylinder?
With a P0139 code, and a cylinder "shooting" gas, with a hesitation problem, i would suspect you cat is clogged. That would also create the manifold pressure for the gas / cylinder to want to find an easier route out..

I dont think it could be the cat. I was running xiaogary's header when the problem happened and I have had gas in the spark plug area before. I just reverted back to the oem manifold to see if that would help but the problem persists. Im thinking of replacing the EGR valve next since replacing the O2 sensors didnt help.

EGR should have a code of its own. If you still have a cat with xiogarys header, it could still be the problem. You code is for the second o2 flow, if replacing it did not help, then the problem is somewhere after the primary o2, or t would have a code too..
If that makes sense. If xiogarys header was catless, that was the cause of the code.

tried seafoam? my Aveo had some hesitation think it was cheap gas but dropped some seafoam in and it stopped. now i put a can in every month.

Could be a shot or plugged up injector. That would cause the other cylinders to go rich and make it sluggish.

U sure it's not just oil that seeped from the valve cover gasket around the plug (quite common).
There's no way gas could really pool there. I'd pull the intake hose off and run your finger around the TB opening and past the butterfly, and see if you get any black on there. If so clean it out with some gumout and a rag. A sticky butterfly causes a hesitation.

I have some new codes now that I replaced the O2 sensors.
P0106- manifold absolute pressure/Barometric pressure circuit range/performance problem
P0171- system too Lean Bank1
P0172- System Too Rich Bank1
p2187- system too lean at idle speed bank1
p2188- system too rich at idle

crazy! Question how does the engine run? 171 ,172,2188 2187? My idiot light has been on since I installed the header. car runs smooth 35mpg. Screw that light!

Ive been running the Xiaogary header for about 2 years now. Even with the O2 fouler, I got a CEL light. Its been like that since I have installed it. But lately I have been having hesitation and stalling while on the freeway. 171 ,172,2188 and 2187 are the codes I'm getting now. I still need some help with this. I'm thinking that this may be related to the MAF sensor or injectors.
