      Heater problems

My heater in my '06 Aveo recently started heating up only when accelerating or revving the engine. How do I fix this?

Sounds like a water pump missing fins, needs more rpm to circulate the water.
Or even just the thermOstat stuck open. Where you only have heat when you produce more than the effective cooling.

Since you didn't say your having overheating issues as well I would look into issues with the fresh air flap and/or check the heater core for blockage.

Sounds like a thermostat issue to me. I haven't seen that many water pump issues to say it would be missing fins, but it is a possibility.

i think most of the aveos have metal impellers? which is good versus most other car companies.

I will try the thermostat. Should be an easy and inexpensive fix if that's it. What about the blower motor? Has anyone had trouble with that and could it be causing my issue?

Yeah, the Aveo does have a metal impeller. In fact I remember taking a pic when I pulled my engine... yeah here it is. The blades are pretty beefy.

I haven't heard of blower motor issues either. You'd know if it was the blower though because you wouldn't get any air coming out of the vents.

This is where i tend to stop people ask them for a better description of what the car is actually doing. Then the next post a lt of the tme is they dropped it off at the dealership. But, does the fan work in all positions regardless of heat level? verify it is only the temp that is wrong. (make sure cr is warmed up) cycle the fan between positions, turn it hot to cold etc.. what happens?
