      Fuel Needle Wandering?

Hi There...i just got a 2005 Aveo Hatchback. So far i really love the car. Had to put some money into it already...new timing belt (never changed, but still in one piece at 80,000), net drive belt, stereo, speakers, gas cap...but i love it so it's ok.

Anyways, my fuel gauge needle wanders quite a bit. When i fill up, it will wander from full to below half and back again.

Is it worth tearing into the tank to replace the float or is this just something to be expected?

      Thanks,
      Jon

is it accurate the rest of the time? it only wonders right after fill up? i would leave it if so.. if it wanders all the time, its @$100? and you can access the tank through the floor..

I think i'll leave it for now.

It's weird. After a fill up, it will be fine until i drive like 40 or 50 miles. Pretty much when it would start to move off of the "F". Then it wanders between Full and Half until i drive about 100 miles. And it then settles in properly.

      No biggie.
