Emissions Issue
Hello fellow Aveons,
My Aveo threw a code for P0445, and a few other emissions codes, one of which said there was a small leak, as well as one that said there was a large leak detected.
I pulled the connector from the charcoal canister, there was 2 wires running from it, a black and a yellow one. There's a female fitting for 2 spades, where the fitting is, there's a red "housing", as well as a tab. My question is, can i just splice new wires into it, and have it work? have any of youse guys had the same issue? all help is appreciated.

As long as you have a connected (closed) circuit you should be fine just doing a splice. However I have not had to deal with the canister.

If you splice it in correctly then it should work? but you have to be splicing to eliminate the possible issue.
If the issue is internal to toe solenoid, then a splice won't fix..

I had the same problem with the same codes. I hate those codes they are so misleading. Stay away from there for a minute and get a gas cap from the dealer. Mine did the same thing and had same codes. All it was is the gas cap. The aveo will only accept a gas cap from the dealer. You cannot use the cheap ones from autozone or advance auto there is something about them that is different. Got the cap from the dealer and cleared the code and gone for good. The code will go away after about 100 miles of driving but try that first befor messing around down there. They dont go that bad that fast usually unless u can visually see a brake in one of the lines or the purge solenoid wires are broke. Just try this and see if it works first. Its emission based only and fixed mine with same codes.
