Car turns off while driving

Hoping someone can help. My car turns off while driving and all the lights come on. I can restart it immediately. It can go weeks without it happening and then it can happen a couple of times in one day. It was with a mechanic for a week and he couldnt find anything wrong but its worrying as it just happens randomnly.

My first impression is that you need to check your battery connections. Is anything else disrupted when it shuts off?

The second, although I do not have the schematics to look at, is either start /run relay or ignition switch.

I'm embarassed to admit I took my car out of winter storage last year and forgot to tighten the battery cable after putting it back on the battery post.

The car would randomly cut out (especially after going over a bump). It only completely stalled once, though.
