Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
My Aveo has done this since new.
When I'm accelerating smoothly from a stop (5speed) in 1st and 2nd gear, you can feel the car pull / buck/ surge...not sure what to call it. Its noticeable, but not major.
I've switched brands of gas.
I was told that my ecm recieved an update when my car was new for driveability issues. Could this be related?
I'm past the warranty, so the dealer is going to try to charge me money, and will likely mess the car up further.
The one thing I have found about the problem, the more warmer and humid it is, the more the car will do this. The issue seemed to be gone all this past winter.
Anyone else have this? Found the cure?
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
change your spark plugs and wires
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
what mods have you done if any? last time you maintenanced the vehicle/what did you do? maybe bad batch of gas?
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
I think the only mod he's done is the OCC stickers...maybe it's that? j/k
You probably got water in your fuel, try HEET and see if theres a difference, it wont hurt anything if that's not it.
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
i thought i was the only one with OCC stickers

Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
Obviously this probably isn't going to help this guy as it has been like 10 months since he's had his problem, but I had this same problem at about 40k and they had to replace the throttle body. I had a similar problem at 70k where it would happen, but only at about 3k+ rpms. ONCE AGAIN they had to replace the throttle body and also the o2 censor.
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
Hey, I'm still here.
My car still does this too. Just not right now, it seems to coincide with the hot humid weather.
I've always been able to live with it since it seems to throw no codes.
Thanks for the information.
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
I'd suggest taking a look through the technical service bulletins. There seems to be quite a bit on throttle bodies in there.
Re: Bucking / surge on Acceleration...
The stealership always wanted to start nickle & diming me, with a "fuel injection service".
They thought that would cure the problem....probably because it was something they could charge me for, while the car was still under warranty.

I had this problem when I first got it the dealership wouldn't do anything until my mom threatened to write Lemon on the car and they found out that the Emission control was bad and had to be replaced. Remember to read your Lemon laws for your state it is your best friend.

Just Write Lemon on the car and they have to fix it. Some states with these laws once they find that the dealership just outright denied a service claim they have to give you a brand new car.
