Aveo dies when put in to gear first thing in the morning

My 2006 dies in the morning or anytime it's been sitting a while8+hours. It starts then usually I am in reverse to back out and it just shuts off. I re start it and it usually good to go. No lights on except when it dies, they turn off when I re start it. Also sometimes it jerks when on the highway, not sure if that's related or not. Last summer same jerking happened got some lights on, replaced coils and new cat converter.Any help is appreciated, my dad is going to put in some fule injector cleaner, change air filter and spark plugs, because that's his only guess.
