Aveo 2005 hatchback hood cable broken :(

hi,
this morning I wanted to open my hood to fill up windshield water. but the latch was loose. I tried to pull the cable it came without any resistance. (its broken fron hood side)

1. How can I open the hood now that the cable is broken
2. Steps to replace the cable from outside.

Hi. Did anyone ever tell you how to open your hood? My cable is about to break or it is stretched, it takes 4 pulls to get the hood to pop open. Can it be detached and open the hood without it? Who the hell is going to try and steal anything under the hood? Is there a way to by pass the hood pull cable? Or is replacing it the only option? Did you replace it? Was it expensive? Can you do it yourself, or did you? Thanks guy. Mines a 2006 HB. No problem yesterday! Today....now a problem.

Hood latch Cable broke on our 2007 Chev Aveo and also cannot open hood. How can I open the hood?

The broken cable can be reached from under the front car, above the radiator. You can use a small flashlight, and a mechanic's mirror,
to spot the broken cable. Then just pull the cable with your hand, to release the first lock on the hood.
The replacement is pretty straight forward, you will need to take off the release handle from the dash, then pull the cable out.
However I waited to do that, so that I could see how the cable was routed, thru the firewall, and around the left front fender.
The release end of the cable attaches to the hood latch, and has a small round end, take note of how it is attached, when you take it off.
