Alarm issues
Good afternoon,
I have a 2008 LT automatic with power windows and locks, 38k miles. It’s a good little car but the alarm is driving me crazy. Have a new car battery and new fob battery but having same issue as before I replaced. The lock and unlock buttons are not working and if I use the key itself to unlock the car the alarm goes off. The alarm Continues to go off even if I put key in the ignition and turn engine on. I’ve unplugged the anti theft module and battery for 30 min and it still does the same thing, what should I try next?

More than likely an issue with the module itself, or some component like the wiring inside of the door pass thru boots wearing out. I've seen that on other makes that incorporated a lock/unlock pin switch for the driver door key.
The module either can't process, or isn't receiving the 'alarm cancel' command. Did you recently purchase it? I ask because I have also seen where aftermarket alarms/keyless systems will be added by one owner, then the remote gets broken or lost, and the car eventually ends up in the driveway of someone who didn't know there was an alarm installed until 3am during a thunderstorm.

No I’ve had it for a while, doesn’t get driven a whole lot. Is the anti theft module universal? Meaning can I get one from a junk yard or eBay. Or does it need to be programmed by the dealer if you get a new one?
