2008 Aveo P2135 code, covered by warranty?

      Hi guys,

I have my chevy aveo which got the engine light turned on a couple of time with the P2135 code.
It is related to the throttle pedal position.
My car is a 2008 and has 60k miles. I still have the 5 years 100k miles warranty.

I called a dealer but he did not tell me if this was covered or not. All I know is that if it is covered, I don't pay anything, if not I have to pay 130 dollars for the inspection, then I'll have to pay for the repair (if I want to them to perform it)! really!

I've read on internet a lot of this problem, but I haven't found if this was covered or not. On this forum I have found that some people have been able to get the problem fixed under the warranty, but I don't know which warranty.

Does anybody know if I am still covered?

      Thanks very much!

      Ben

I would think if the issue is physically the throttle body, then it should be under the drivetrain warranty.

If it is electrical, or an issue effecting the throttle body, then it may not be.

thats just from comparing it to mine and the current (2010) warranties

I think the throttle it self would fall under actuator. but only the "internals" are covered under the drivetrain warranty.

Thanks Rabbit, that helps. I guess I can't really know until someone makes a complete diagnostic of the car.

Do I have to get my car fixed in a chevy dealer to make the warranty work or can I go through a repair shop? I am asking because if I go to a repair shop and if the warranty does not apply to my problem, a repair shop would charge me less than the official dealer.

      Thanks,

      Ben

for work that is covered by warranty you have to go to the dealer, if he tells you that it's not covered after he does the diagnosis, you are allowed to tell that you don't want him to do the work , and then you leave (at that point you know what the problem is) and you go to your reapir shop

Will they still want to charge you though for looking at it? I thought I was under warranty for my brake light switch, they did no work but charged me $69 for looking at it.

they will want to charge you for everything of course..

but a good dealership should determine a warranty claim (or not) for free. diagnosis charges are crap imho. its "hour labor rate" for less than 5 minutes of work that anyone can do.

      Thanks guys, yeah it's crazy!
paying 130 dollars for a diagnostic! and I called another dealer, it was the same price.
I think this is just totally a rip off. I don't know anybody who is paid 130 for 10 mins.
so they will charge me, unless I am covered by the warranty for my problem. That is why I wanted to make sure it is covered.
I could get my car inspected for 50 bucks in maryland.
Anyways I will go this morning. If it is not covered depending on the quote they gave me I will leave or not. Or At best it is covered and I'm relaxed.

DO you guys think I should go? I guess I wont have a response before 9:30, I have the appointment a 10.

      THanks,

      Ben

      Hey guys!!

I went to the chevy dealer last week end, and guess what, my P2135 was covered by the 5year 100000 miles warranty!
      so happy, I haven't paid a penny.
I had a valve cover gasket replaced because I was leaking oil. They replaced the Throttle body and the sensor assy.

      Everything under warranty.

I thought my gas mileage would increase but I am still in the 36, I used to be 38mpg.

I hope this topic will help other aveo owner who have the P2135 code on!

      Ben
