2005 Aveo Hatchback (Striped model) Headlight/Turn signal switch issue?

I just purchased an upgrade from my Geo (huge upgrade!) and while looking for the Light Switch on the dash I found it on the turn signal arm.
1. When I turn the switch to Off position the lights are on, the light symbol in the center console shows the lights on. When I turn the lights On, the lights are on, the light symbol in the center console is off.

2. When I pull the turn signal arm toward me I saw a blue square once but since then the Hi-Beam indicator doesn't show no matter if the arm is forward or in the center position.

3. Using the turn signals after I make a turn they stay on, most of the time, sometime they go off returning the arm to center.

I found the Blue bright light indicator above the steering wheel not in the center console, the lights turn off now that the engine compartment has dried out from the steam cleaning it received I guess.
