I've read a bunch of reports in the past few days that GM is going to use the Aveo platform to build a small "crossover" car for Buick in the same Orion factory in Michigan that will build the Aveo.

News of this surprising development comes from an unnamed source familiar with GM’s Orion Township plant plans – which is where the unnamed Buick crossover will be built alongside the new Aveo.

What is unclear at this point is if the Aveo platform can support an AWD setup, meaning that either the baby-Enclave will be front-wheel drive only, or at the Aveo platform will be changed significantly.

This is interesting because it potentially means there will be more drivetrain options / parts for Aveo lovers to pick through for modding the next gen car.

GM announced last June that it would build the Aveo at the Orion plant, about 40 miles north of Detroit, preserving 1,200 jobs. The plant is expected to run two shifts next year and make 160,000 vehicles per year.

Not sure if this is a teaser pic of the Buick or not (from Motor Trend's site...)
