March 2010 subcompact sales are mixed. However, for the most part, if you were up, you were way up. The Soul was up more than 300% vs. 3/09, the Versa continues to go skyward, too. Aveo and Rio sales are looking strong, as well.
It breaks down Jan-March 2010 subcompact sales in the US by various metrics. Interesting to compare the Aveo to the other cars to see how well/badly various cars are selling and how much they've changed from last year....

It might depend on where they are being sold. :?: (Personally, I dislike virtually everything about Nissans.)
Interestingly, I see very few Aveos where I live - and when I do see one it often has out-of-state plates on it.
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (through Mar
is the nissan versa the only nissan under $20k yet?
i think brand loyalty with the rising prices (not many people i know can actually afford an "average" price new car..
especially when most of them bought their last new car 7-8 years ago when 15k was close to "average"
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (through Mar
I wonder if it could be fleet sales to rental companies too.
I've read that GM / Ford / Chrysler are trying to wean themselves off massive fleet sales. Maybe Nissan's filling the void.
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (through Mar
Ah man, the Versa? It's fugly. I would never buy that thing... Also the ratings aren't the greatest.
But advertising helps Nissan. I'm actually getting really tired of seeing their Versa commercials.

IMHO all Nissans are not only extremely ugly but also not easy to do routine maintenance on. That's two strikes against them. Maybe poor fuel economy is strike three.
Ever seen a Nissan Cube? It's the most turd-like blob imaginable on 4 wheels! It's at least as ugly as the Pontiac Aztek, which possibly was the ugliest car of it's time.
I'm amazed that anyone would actually buy one...
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (through Mar
I kind of like the Cube. Funky.
Aerodynamic as the proverbial barn door, but interesting.
Friends of mine just got one (only the 2nd one in this town of 21000), and people actually go up to it and press their faces against the glass to look inside. (When it's parked!)
If it wasn't a CVT, I would have asked them to try it out already. :)
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (through Mar
Is the new sentra under 20k?
But i agree the versa isnt the best lookin nissan they made. The cube is dumb.. why does it have the fur circle on the dash?

I don't know if the fur would come stock with the car (maybe they're trying to copy the car from the F&F Tokyo drift... the one that bow-wow was driving... with the furry steering wheel and everything too.
I'm personally not very impressed with the asymmetrical rear window design (i.e. one of the posts is missing altogether to supposedly provide the driver with a "better" view or at least that's the only reason I could really see behind it). I can only imagine what it would do to a passenger in the rear that's sitting in the corner with no post in case of a rollover collision... :?
I think I checked out versa when I was shopping for a new DD, but the used one I looked at was way overpriced IMO, so I didn't even really consider it.
Re: Aveo vs. other subcompacts: U.S. 2010 sales (Jan - Mar)
The post is actually there in the back corner of the Cube - it's just got glass over it to make it look like a wrap-around window.
