      Re: Proven Mileage tips?

I'm averaging 28-30mpg with combined city (30-50) /highway (65-80mph). It's decent, but not what I expected from the BS the dealer was spouting when I bought the car.

Either way, I am very happy with the Aveo (amount of vehicle for the purchase price). That being said, I don't see myself purchasing another, rather opting for a mid size Honda that produces better mileage.

i'm running a short ram intake, custom 4-1 header and this spring redoing the exhaust system. on a bad trip i average 35 mpg, and mostly around or over 40 mpg most of the driving is done on the highway, and around town its mostly back roads so very rarely i do the speed limit.

i always get typically 30 mpg to 32mpg depending on speed travelled. i know gm estmates more, but compared to my suburban i'm happy.

Do you have the mileage records showing the before and after of your mods?

i didnt really keep track before since gas was cheaper when i first bought it, but since if i remember i'll crunch the numbers to see how its going

i have nothing from before i bought my car, but the last time i checked it which is in aveosams mileage thread, i was doin about half n half city/hwy and got 38. mods: intake, full exhaust, plugs n wires, apexi neo(street tune), 17s with wider tires. im at almosty 50k miles.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

the 17's with tires would distort these numbers also...

i am not going to go look up the math but i think a 205/40r17 is like an inch more diameter than stock.
which means every revolution of the wheel you are traveling like 3.14 inches further.. which means when your stock speedo says you are going 65 mph you are actually travelling 67 mph.. but it also works like that for the odometer.

for good gas mileage changes get the lightest wheel and tire set up you can.. i think konig daylite or feathers are cheap and like 11-13 lbs.. most of the time a 17" wheel and tire weigh more than the stock 14. which costs you in gas mileage. also if you go bigger that stock rolling diameter you will travel further for the same amount of gas.. but it wouldn't show in your numbers..

if you can find a tune with fuel cut out that will help tremendously on gas savings. (cuts fuel on deceleration) but i doubt that is available since no chips are out for the aveo..

i saw a 20 mile per tank jump when i put lowering springs on.. but i think it was more of a break in, that aerodynamics change.

Way too early to tell forsure, but my fist tank 90% highway at 65MPH was only 28.99MPG.

Any mileage loggers with air filter, exhaust mods etc?

I seen a new mod at the L.A. Auto Show. it makes and pumps in Hydro. and Claims to make 5% better fuel and 6% more Horses. It's like $5,000.00 to Install it so i will not be testing it anytime soon.

You did WHAT? to your Aveo? HAHAHAHAHA
