      just keeps getting better

Ok here's the latest 306.2 miles on 8.272 gallons do the math and it ='s 37.01 miles to the gallon I can dig it! The last check was 33.5 so it looks like the timing belt change netted 3.5 to the good, unbelievable.

I think more went into that than just new timing belt...

I'm struggling to get 28mpg, but I'm in city...

28 is pretty good city driving mileage.

I'm averaging 32mpg 50-50 driving to work with some short trips at slow snow speed netting 36mpg. Should I get better mpg with warmer weather coming? Dont't get me wrong I'm not complaining with my milage now cause my 1997 tahoe got 14mpg. Just wandering!

yes, if you are in extreme cold you will get better mpg.. not sure how cold kentucky gets comparatively.

also switching to "summer" gas might help as well.. i have also noticed better mpg numbers using gas with less ethanol in it. so better gas (not higher grade) = better mpg as well.

im gettin 33mpg or so..depending on how heavy my foot gets.. (hence why im gettin a cruise control button to wire up) lol the 33mpg is what i figured after 332 miles outta 10 gallons. i do get a heavy foot and i DO have a few places i like to just "Stand on it" and blow out the tail pipe..lol so considering how i drive, im doin good. Versus the 15 bucks a day i used to spend with my truck. my car IS DUE for a timing belt change so ill haveta try and get that done ASAP, hell i may end up payin someone to do it for me..haha. i aint got no time now a days with the new job and the 3 diff shifts to swing. anyhow, i wish everyone some happy drivin!

Do you guys really believe that changing the timing belt increases your gas mileage?

i dont, but being its a "tune up" for your timing, i can see potential for one person to experience an improvement, but not everyone.

ie, maybe the stretched belt was causing some sort of inefficiency.

i agree here. Not all, but timing WILL make a little difference in everything. If its out, its gonna take more fuel to get the car to operate normally or for say, to have its proper power curve...hence why i do my timing belts, im anal as hell about it!
