Fuel type best for our cars.

Hiya guys, I am new here so be easy. I have a 2004 Suzuki Swift which correct me if I am wrong is the same as the Aveo. It is a 5 speed.

I have seen varying messages regarding the fuel mileage of the Aveo, overall though it is good. I was actually wondering if the ethanol based fuel is worse for the car or if using say 91 octane with lower to no ethanol is better for fuel mileage?

I run 87 octane with ethanol in mine and I do just fine mileage wise. Driving technique is has a much more drastic effect on mileage than ethanol fuel. I'm sure no ethanol gas is a little better on mileage, but you probably won't even be able to tell the difference. Higher octane fuel is also a waste and won't give you more power or fuel mileage.

You can't use fuel with more than 10% ethanol content. The Aveo just wasn't designed for it. As for fuels, anything higher than 87 octane is a waste of money IMO.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

I run 93 exclusively, I get the best mileage out of it, and the car always just feels better with it, but then again, it is tuned for 93 octane.

It's tuned by Trifecta based out of Washington, and I must say, every aveo needs this, too bad it only works for second Gens.

That's awesome. What improvements did it make?

I've never had the car dyno'd, so I can't say how much power I might have gained, but with my tune, intake and exhaust done, I can definitely say acceleration and throttle response is vastly improved. My car could barely do 90 before everything, and now it tops out around 125. I never have any issues keeping up with traffic, passing at higher speeds. My gas mileage is slightly better even with the slight performance increase, and my shifts even feel smoother (autotragic transmission) its really just an all around much better car now.

This is why I don't miss the Aveo.

Also, I tried contacting Vince from Trifecta tuning numerous times to do a tune for a 1st gen Ave (when I had it), but he didn't want to go for it. He definitely does it for my current car!
