I used to use 3000rpm as my shift point. Since I've been using 2000rpm as my shift point my gas mileage has improved. I used to fill up every 5 days now I'm going 6-7 days between fill ups. Obviously I'm making the identical run everyday to work and back. No deviations.
It's a very lax driving style but hey it saves me money.
Do you track your miles per gallon? Days between fill up is unfortunately a horribly inaccurate way to measure efficiency. It sure sounds like you've made a good improvement, but I really can't tell how much.
miles how many miles per tank full? When my gas light went on it read 356 miles I filled it back to top 10 g.
10 gallons should be about 37 liters. OK.. I think that may be an in-accurate way of doing it, as my light turns on or off depending if I'm going up hill or downhill. I guess the only real way to measure it is to buy one of those OBD2 in-dash monitors that allow you scroll through all that information.
Or for no money you could set your odometer to zero on Trip, record the amount of km's you do until your next fill up then go to Fuelly | Share and Compare Your MPG enter mileage info and that will give you an accurate reading of what you are consuming.Quote:

That's how I do it, odometer reading divided by the amount of fuel put in the tank 'till full, something crazy, but, if you always fill up at the same gas station, and you're able to choose the pump you use, you might get a more accurate reading, if you use the same one, reduced variation from pump to pump.
I change gears at 2,500 RPM and at 3,000 RPM when the A/C is on.
