What I've Done...08 aveo5

2008 Chevy Aveo5 LS
2nd owner since August 2011
5 speed manual
No A/C


What I've Done:

8000k HID Hi/lo w. relay harness to override DLR's
6000k HID Fog lights w.o harness (really accommodate and look good with 8000k)
x2 blue led strip at drive/passenger feet.(running off 12v plug beside ebrake, no time for switch yet)
x2 SMD LED license plate bulbs
x1 SMD LED interior dome light
audio style led strip lights under headlights plugged in to relay harness extra lo spot.

What Im Gunna Do:

**I have LED bulbs i wanna put in my stop and reverse tail lights... however i am having a B**ch of a time. i unscrew the two screws, and pull straight back on light to not "break it" and i cant get it to come out, the only way i feel any give is if i pull on an angle to the outside of the car... but apparently this will break to sensitive clips and will render my tail lights UN-useable. does anyone have any suggestions at all??????***

I plan on tinting the windows, getting a spoiler, and making the antenna shorter, one issue i have come in to is everyone says the antenna just twists off... mine doesnt... ive tried using grips and all it does it turn the rubber, i do not want to break it then be SOL. does anyone have any ideas or tips??

I'm going to buy one of the chrome cold air intake kits off ebay as well, i have been hesitating because im scared to get hydro lock, or break something. any suggestions/ reviews?

Since its winter ive also used my steels with my winters now so im going to buy 14" rims for the summer now, i dont want to get bigger rims and tires since im going to be spending a lot on a lowering kit.

i'm not a big fan of the LED strip around the headlights

I would personally recommend your next "modifications" be a new set of wheels and get it lowered. Instantly will make your car look a whole lot better!

really? ive gotten alot of good remarks from friends, they were just a test anyway. just to have some fun.

coming spring 2012, im going to lower it 1" and 1.3", but for rims im scared to go bigger in fear of them rubbing.

Just get the right sized tire and it should really be about the same in size, you will need to go lower profile depending on the rim size though. I read your comment about the antenna, it was a bitch for me to get off its on super tight. So it does just twist off, its just next to impossible when it hasn't been done yet. I wanted to replace mine with a shorter one as well but the adapters were too long.

do you have good light with xenon? Not blinding upcoming cars in front of you?

i have adjustable coilovers on my 06 aveo lt hatch, it adjusted all the way down so if i have stocks on itll tuck the stock 14s but i can still clear 18s with 35 series tires so you can go anywhere from 15-18 with a 1-1.5 inch drop

i couldnt ft 18's under mine anymore. the stock 14" tire size rubs...

i melt peoples rear view mirrors when im behind them. 6000ks in the top and fogs

then again i pounded anot of the metal that hangs down into the wheel well up a little bit to clear cause i wanted that big rim low stance

1.5" drop is not a low stance :P

i was talking about his drop springs but **** mine tucks 14s.....REFLECTOR COLLECTOR!!:P

What fogs are those? Ebay?

My aveos aftermarket 17" rims with low pros have same outside diameter as my stock 14" steel rims with normal tires. The only difference is about $100.00 more a tire when I need new ones.

the led around the headlight is,............. >_< ... imo.....


take off your led around the headlights, get some 16" rims, and lower it,,, will look great

Looks fun. I like the blue lights inside. As long as you're having a good time doing it, keep it up. ;)
