TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP DONE

hey everyone i just wanted to post pics for no reason of the parts changed when the chevy dealer did my timing belt. $700.18 later, and having waited until 91,261 miles, i guess it was time. i'm glad the belt didnt snap before then.

Was that the original belt that went 91,261 miles? Was that the first belt change on your aveo? If so that's great. And did they put on the same brand belt as the original and what is the brand?

ashamedly yes it was my first timing belt change which should have been done at the recommended 60000 miles. i know that i pushed it and really took a huge gamble when a lot of our co-forum readers were posting about broken belts. the belt that came out of the car was a gates powergrip htd and also stamped gm daewoo. apparently the replacement belt is the same gates powergrip made for these cars.

Thats good to know, I have the gates powergrip belt, and I may not have the money /time to change it, at 60k

Honeslty it the old belt dosent look that bad at all..

Any major cracking? looks a little frayed on the edges but thats it.

slight cracking at the bottom of each rib, but that was about it. the serivce tech told me that the more important issue was that the idler pulley bearings were ok, but questionable so he replaced that. the tensioner pulley and water pump were both fine but since they were there, and the car had 91000 miles on it, they decided to replace every pulley relating to the timing belt.

hey chevy_driver, for me it was blind luck. like everyone here i work and i needed to be able to have money to get the car fixed at the dealership. the only reason i chose the dealership and knowing that they were more expensive was because if anything happened after the repair it could be fixed again within 12 months, or 12000 miles under warranty of that repair.
