Finally getting back to the track

      ... but I won't be driving the Aveo. I'll be rolling a 300+hp Impreza WRX at www.subiefest.com

Super stoked, leaving later today, track day is tomorrow, will return to Vegas Sunday evening.

You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Will definately be fun. I'm not actually racing... it's a high performance driving event. turn 8 at 120mph is good times for sure... I have had the Aveo out there and it can only get up to 95... A decent car should hit 120-130 on the straight and 120 on turn 8 which is kinda straight.

P.S. Once an Rx-8 comes up local which is silver or gray, 5sp, cloth, and sunroof... I'm trading the Aveo. It's been fun but it's time to get a better, track worthy car

rx-8's are so nice....what are you looking to do with one if you get it? just leave it stock?

Re: Finally getting back to the track

They upgraded the warranty on some of the engine parts to 100k so I'll be keeping it mostly stock. Power wise, just a midpipe, anything else is throwing money for not much return. While the car is not all fast, it is pretty quick. With some suspension mods I should be very happy with it. I'll have a reliable track worthy car that I can drive to work in comfort during the week.

I have been very particular in the Aveo by only doing springs, wheels, modified intake, WRX muffler and have really enjoy driving a car that only needs regular maintenance. I would rather spend time driving than wrenching.

RX-8 huh. Good autocross cars but not fast acceleration at all. If you are looking for an road race car, why not get something faster?

Have you driven one? It runs the 1/4 in 14's which is pretty quick. More importantly it's very well balanced and quite frankly there is more to a fast car than how fast it can get to 60 or a 100. To be a good track car, it needs great handling, great brakes, reliable engine, ability to easily go 130mph, not overheat at 100+ degree track days, etc... The Rx8 does this well. A turbo car might be faster, but it's also more expensive to maintain and produces a sick amount of heat.

What would you suggest which I can get under 15k, not FWD, Reliable, looks good?
