      07 Hatch Vs. 86 MR2

      hello all,
my buddy has an 86 MR2, with a K and N intake, NGK spark plugs/wires, and i believe he has forged pistons (he was talking about them and possibly got them) and i saw this guy driving down the street, we'll call him Joe. I trailed him, passed him up and signaled for him to follow, he did.
We got to the end of a street, no cars coming, and from a dead stop, we launched on the third honk.
I built the revs up to about 2.25k, and didn't dump the clutch, but released it on feel.
1st gear- we're pretty much dead even
i grab 2nd, i start to pull ahead of him by maybe 1/4 car length, then he grabs 2nd. and gains about 1/2 car length on me. I ride 2nd to about 6k, maybe a smidge bit more, then into third. At this point in time, he's still in 2nd, and hits VVT is going hard. He gets into third, and pulls away on me by about a car length and a half.
Now, although i had "Somewhat of a chance", i believe that if he knew how to drive the car a bit better he would've had me from the get go, BUT, nonetheless he has a 1.6 litre engine as do we aveo drivers. And i just wanted to see how they'd hold up together.

I was so close to buying an 85 MR2. seriously regret I didnt...that thing handles amazing around the corners. And RWD= tons of fun. The owner let me take it out to an abandoned parking lot and drift a little.

I assume he meant VIG. The Mr2 has variable intage geometry.

It's important to keep in mind that speed is not the only thing that makes street racing dangerous, Regardless of the actual speed involved, reckless driving, losing control, and disobedience to traffic regulations can result in dire consequences.
