Usually when someone pulls up next to me and wants to race from the light...my question is, "How far are you willing to go?"

I've yet to have anyone beat me in my Z06. Or my GTO for that matter...But I'm not looking to get someone hurt either. Egos make people do stupid things. I'd rather keep most of it for the track.

That being said firing off at a light every once and a while is hard to avoid, its just so fun, especialy in certain cars.

The 389 was long gone when we got the car. Its originaly a Tripower 4spd car. It had a Boneville motor in it (428) All pontiacs of that time have interchangable parts so we used the 428 and a Tripower from 1966. The 66 tripower was a little better than the 65. Plus the carbs are the aftermarket ones Rodchester offered in 67 or 68. They have all been redone and jetted up. It really runs good. And still looks stock under the hood. At least close to stock. Most people can't tell what isn't right for 65. As for the resto. The body was frame off restored before we got it. bodywork and paint was done. The motor etc was shamefull for as nice as the body was. So we pulled it and did all that stuff. Still have a few things interior wise we want to fix... Always something.

When I saw that picture, a Beach Boys song popped in my head...

"3 dueces and a four speed... and a 389..."

Little GTO... inspired my dad to buy that car back when it was new.
