shouldnt these things mount straight to ur steering wheel? i mean even if u only used doublesided sticky tape...

i see a prob with where alaskes cruise is mounted and that is this-get a passenger in ur car and as u put it in 5th and get comfy, ur passenger bumps ur cruise switch and knocks you out of cruise. i, sometimes hit my passengers legs when i go into 5th once in while and i have had people bump the shifter and such as well when its in. if you dont have passengers ever then thats great and you wont have many probs but if you do have passengers often, well then......

i see what you mean, but i thought i read earlier in this thread that people place the switch in a diff location other than the wheel area so they dont void the warrantee.

other than that, i think i am an effing retard. because i cannot find the white plug to save my life. :| i am lost; thus explains hy i have not atempted this yet.

I wedged mine in the little cubby space beneath the radio. that way it is easy to reach and out of the way. It even looks like it might belong there.

I actually considered three places, the cubby space as mentioned, screwing it to the storage area under the cigarette lighter/ash tray and the shifter column. The beauty of the way I ran the wiring is I can move it to any of the three locations to see which one will work best.

As for being mounted on the shifter and hitting the passenger's leg, if they're that big I'll take the F-350.

I checked for the switch location on my 08... On my steering wheel, there is a little door that can be popped off exactly where the CC switch would be installed from the dealer. Could it not be installed there? Or do we need special hardware?

The only problem with that is when you turn the wheel the wires going to the switch will need to be able to stretch or when you make that left turn out of your driveway the wires will rip out.

I haven't gotten my switch yet but when i do I'm thinking about mounting it to the e-break handle.

there most probably is a connection that can be made directly to the clockspring and then to the harness.

OK I looked at these pics posted (posted from the link on page 4)

We are support to TAP in wire/pin #6 and #7 as per below diagram right?
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f400/Ashnjerm/pinout1.jpg

NOW... If you look at this closely, he's tapped in pin #1 and #12 and not #6 & #7 as the diag above states..

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f400/Ashnjerm/100_0623.jpg

So I'm all mixed up. First off, my harness colours don't match in my ride. If I refer to the pictures, it should be the top one and it should be white. My top harness is grey and the bottom one is white. On both harnesses, I have wires running on both pins #6 and #7, actually, they are pretty much full of wires!

So, is it the top harness I should use no matter what? Should I be connecting to pins 1 and 12? Man o man... If you look closely at the diagram, the clip is facing upwards, on the picture, he is holding the clip downwards. Not sure if anyone is catching my drift?

Does anyone have a shovel so I can smack myself on the side of the head?

Man, why the F... haven't I thought of that... lol

OK, now I guess I have to use the top connector even though mine is grey...?

You want to use the wires in the bottom white plug and not the top one. Look at my pictures again and you'll see it is the bottom white plug and the wires are on the bottom of that plug or in other words, the plug closest to the floor and the wires you want are in the two rows closest to the floor.

Now, this may be a very dumb question, but I have seen some LS's with cruise, both standard and automatic, the same as my LT has.
Knowing cars, or car manufacturers as I do, I would assme that all Aveos at least 07 & 08 models have the connection in the wheel for Cruise, just don't have the controller on them because that is an option. Would I be wrong in believing this?
If this infact is the case, I would assume a cruise control switch from the dealer, maybe a fuse, and it would be, for the most, plug and play.

Now, mind you, I am not saying that this is infact the case, but seeings as the Aveo is an assembly line car, I would think that the oprions, minus the doors, would already have the options installed, just not in action. But I can't prove this. And I won't claim it to be true, which is why I am merely asking the question.

I know my '06 is all prewired. Only options missing are the sunroof and tweeters in the A-pillars, yet the wiring is all there.
