OK, I'm a liitle lost here.

You guys installed a Cruise Control for dirt cheap? How cheap and how hard was it to install? Now, from what I read, I'm SOL for the 08 Sedan?

From my understanding you're not SOL, you'll just need to run the wires to the ECU.

A beer to anyone who does a proper guide on how to install this.

yeah, question, would just buying the switch from the dealer and splicing into the right wires also work on the '07 hatch?

Works for any of the throttle-by-wire aveos. '06-'08

I guess you owe me a beer :P
Pay particular attention to the ECM wiring portion. If you buy the $20-30 module from GM parts, there will be two wires you need to run to the ECM (at least on my 2008 sedan). I haven't quite got the confidence to tear apart the ECM connector and try and innsert the wires. I am also still looking for the connectors to do so.

Hey guys,
I got the switch and got the wires tapped at the connecter at the firewall, but I can't find any crimp connecters that will fit onto the terminals on the cruise switch! What are you guys using? I like the ones in the pics of the writeup from the old forum but I can't find them. I work at a GM dealership and my parts guy and I can't come up with a connector.
Any help would be much appreciated!

thanx,

Sean

Ok, I am confused now and I hope that someone can help me here.
I have an 08 Aveo 5 stripped to the bone. There was a dated post on another version (like the old forum or something) that showed hooking up the cruise with tapping 2 wires in the harness underneath the dash.
Here is the link... http://aveoclub.proboards26.com/index.c ... 1153560399

So I did this last nite and didn't have connectors to hook into the switch so I left it at that.
Today I got the connectors I needed and hooked everything up.... nothing.

So I went back and read through this post. Now it looks as maybe my 08 doesn't have those wires and I need to tap into the pcm under the hood.
Can someone PLEASE clear this up for me? I am confused as to where the 2 wires coming off the cruise switch run to. Is it to the connector on the firewall in the car or the pcm under the hood?

Any help at ALL would be much appreaciated!!

thanx!

Sean

Slamdit,

You only need to connect the wires to the plug at the firewall, not the ECM. I did this in my 08 Aveo 5 and it works like factory cruise. I used the negative wire from some speaker wire I had that had small spade connectors already connected and put shink wrap tube on them for isolation. Connect them to the 2 outer pins as the post says and then connect to the two green/white wires at the plug and presto, cruise control.

Ok so I go to my GM dealer and ask them to order me a cruise control switch for my 07 Aveo 5 SVM? Then follow the Guide listed above and it should work just like a factory install? Just want to be sure. We have the 2 Aveo and are still getting killed by the gas prices so any help would be GREAT!!!

I have to get this done soon! It would definitely improve on gas milage and also would relax my foot on highway drives which is about 60% of what I do!

Mine are both 07's, is there a part number for the switch? That would make it all alot easier.
