I think the only lights in the newer cluster that are replaceable bulbs are the turn signal and highbeam indicators.

If that was directed at me, my cluster was sold months ago. If your 2008 has the same type of cluster (GMLAN) then I would expect any of the clusters to work, however the CPP (if manual) and CKP...
That depends on the year of your car. If your cluster looks like the ones in this thread, you would be able to do it. I think the display is estimated miles to empty by default. FWIW, I didn't think...
Anyone interested in the parts for the factory look? I still have my spare cluster for sale with the proper gauge face, select button, and clear cover.
I still have the oem cluster that came with the DIC, so if anyone wants parts (or the whole cluster for that matter) I could be talked out of it. I paid $90 for it and would like to get most of it...
I mounted it in the knock out where the power mirror switch would be if I had power mirrors. I don't have a pic but I can take one.
I used one of these: Momentary round Push-Button Switch 250V/3A...
That is what I did.
Your English is better than my Spanish, but I still have no idea what you're talking about.
The DIC seems to be reasonably close.
Over the last two tanks:
19.0 gallons of gas
661 miles
DIC indicated 35.6mpg
I thought that was probably the case. I think I've got to get down closer to 55mph to see 38-39mpg with my hatch.
38.5mpg @ 62mph is not too bad. Do you have a sedan or hatch? If the hatch could be driven backwards, I'm pretty sure the 70mph fuel economy would increase significantly. ~;-)
Finally put a select button in the power mirror spot today. The average MPG shows 36.6...a bit optimistic if that is since it was new; I kept track of every fill up since new and my average so far it...
I didn't bother trying the cruise LED. Those LED's are TINY and my hands are not steady enough to do such intricate work.
I went a little bit of a different route. None of the local yards have an Aveo newer than 06. There is one about 70 miles away and they want 50 bucks. I really didn't want to rip the cluster I bought...
Screw it! I'm going to try out the soldering station I got for Christmas last year. Maybe I'll even move the cruise indicator LED from my replacement cluster. [-o<
Glad to hear it worked out for you and thanks for sharing your project.
It looks like the 08 Aveo5 has the old style cluster, so you probably do not have the hidden DIC. Looks like the new cluster started in 07 for the sedan and 09 for the hatch. I don't know if the DIC...
In my 2010, the bulbs are not bulbs; they are led's soldered on the circuit board. As far as relearns with the new cluster, they would probably need to be done but that's not a big deal. When the...
It is almost guaranteed you have the DIC hidden, but without a way to change the display, all you'll get is estimated miles to empty.
As far as changing the cluster, If you can get a new one for...
I wish I knew where to hook up to the back of a GM-LAN car IPC. All the postings I found on the Russian Aveo Club site shown non GM-LAN cars. I've uncovered the DIC in my car, but without unsoldering...
Yeah, I knew what they were. Thanks for posting the exact text though; it may help someone in the future who finds this thread.
My problem was that I did not have a CANdi module to allow my Tech2...
GMLAN is actually WHB for my car..according to the FSM. Not sure how I got GHB. The Aveo DIC is not much of a DIC when compared to the rest of GM's DIC's. I have no doubt plugging in a different...
My Aveo already had the DIC; it was just covered up.
Found this on the web last night, opened up my IPC, and whudd-a-ya-know? There's my full display. I'm still going to use the replacement I got...
Looks like my CAN interface should be here Wednesday. Should be drivin' the roller skate again pretty soon.
To elaborate a bit...
The dealer closest to me estimated $30 to do the clutch and crank relearn "if it takes" the first time. The cynic that I am, I took that as leaving the door open to soaking...
