190k Aveo automatic running strong and sold for $800. Replaced by a new Mitsubishi Mirage CVT.
150k Aveo stick...

Forgot to add 1 front wheel bearing at about 140k & 1 a/c compressor bad at about 100k

Two 2004 Aveo's purchased new...... 1-automatic @ 183k and 1-stick @ 143k.....
Total ( not counting-routine timing belt maintenance every 60k) repairs so far...... 1- clutch, 3- sets front brake...

They're good little cars I have two 2004's one with 115k the other 183k......watch the timing belt, the plastic thermostat housing & the valve cover gasket.

You make some very valid points, all very good but probably the best point you made was about the quality of replacement pumps....I worked in Advance Auto for a few years as a retirement...

Understand your point....I've installed many oil pressure gauges in my old cars over the years ( it was a lot easier on old vehicles) , but I also carried a spare fuel pump when they had high mileage...

I've got two Aveos in the family, one with 115k the other with 185k.....both up to date on all maintenance....the only thing I worry about is the fuel pump on the 185k engine........I'm thinking...

Two 04 Aveos purchased new in 04. 115K on the stick shift , 180K on the automatic. Except for routine maintenance ( belts, pulleys, water pumps, front pads,etc. ) replaced 1 alternator, 2 valve...

If it didn't burn oil and everything was always maintained ( oil, filters,antifreeze,brake& master cylinder flushes....) I'd invest the few hundred more and see if it made it to one more 60k timing...

225k on the original alternator & fuel pump !! Pretty darn good.........ordering parts now the for third timing belt on my 175k Aveo. I leave the plastic cover off makes it easier, but still a pain.

Nothing worn out or broken ...... aside from regular maintenance items like brake pads, belts etc. ????

oops ! Forgot 2 sets of ignition wires. One set because they were ruined by the leaky valve cover gasket that caused them to swell.......& of course replaced a few sets of spark plugs...........they...

. One other problem that I forgot about on the high mileage car, the ECU kept registering a too cold engine, drove me crazy, good new thermostats didn't help, had to go for a high temperature...

Didn't count routine maintenance......3 timing belts, 3 serpentine belts,2 water pumps,2 sets of idler pulleys,1 set brake pads. Numerous 2 1/2qt. Automatic transmission fluid changes & oil/filter...

#1 Stick shift w/ 105K ( miles), REPLACED a/c compressor, replaced thermostat housing.
