Using halos and leds as daytime running lights instead of headlight???

Hi I have a 2007 Aveo5 SV and am in the process of getting projector headlights with halo and LEDs from ebay and some Bi-Xenon HIDs. I know u must use a relay so the bulbs get their full voltage so they dont flicker because of the drl. My question is how can I disconnect the headlight HID bulbs from using the drl feature and only have them turn on when i use the switch on the column. While at the same time connecting the halo and leds from the projector headlight to use the drl. I think it would look pretty cool to use them as the drl as opposed to the headlight. I hope someone out there can help me. I've looked all over the net but couldnt find a setup like this anywhere. Thank you all in advance.

Well if you dont mind the halos or LEDs being on all the time you could save your self some trouble by just wiring the lights you want to a source thats only powered when the ignition key is turned on.......cigg. lighter, stereo rem pow or anything that only has power when the car is running.

I am going to dig into this matter myself and see if I can bring the DRL relay itself up to 12V. This way I can hook up LED or Halo's or even 194's in the unused spots to the outside of the headlights. Whatever I decide. I just need to get the multimeter and someone to read and drop the e-brake for me while I hold the leads in place. Maybe if it's dry tomorrow I might start looking so I know what I need. If the DRL module does indeed only put out 5 or 6 Volts, perhaps there is another module that can plug and play at 12 volts, Or someone in here is an electrical engineer and can rebuild it to 12V with no trouble. Keep it looking stock inside and out.

just use the 5 volt signal to trip a 12v relay.

Waste of energy. More wires to run. I like things to be as clean as possible.
