How to Tint your Speedometer and Tachometer DIY

Hello all, I have not posted in a while but since I recently tinted my tachometer and speedometer and took some photos I thought I would do a little DIY on it!

First off you will need to purchase a vinyl sticker large enough to cover the instruments face, I work at a vinyl cutting place so that was easy for me.

Next, apply that sticker onto something clean or just remove the vinyl in order to save the transfer paper.

Apply the transfer paper onto the face of the instrument and carefully (but with plenty of pressure) squeegee it on to prevent any capillary action between the paper and the face when we start to remove the green tint.

Now that the transfer paper is in place, you can start to carefully clean the tint off with alcohol and small rags making very certain not to use a lot of fluid. If any alcohol is pooling or even evident on the plastic, you are using to much and risk destroying the paint on the face. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, THE FACE IS EXTREMELY EASY TO RUIN!

Keep cleaning until no tint exists.

I used Dupli-Color Metalcast in blue, it works very well and allows you to make any shade of blue (or whatever colour you decide on). The product finish is very level and gloss.

Don't worry about how dark it appears when dry, the light passing through it will be a lot lighter as shown below.

      A nice light blue!

Hopefully some of you find this useful or inspiring! I really needed to do something to my Aveo, I was getting bored of it!
