      Tire pressure

I can't seem to find it in the manual, but i know my tire maximum is 44psi. Does anyone know what is actually recommended for the 2006 lt hatchback, as i have heard this can greatly improve the mileage. I checked today and mine right now are 22psi.

What are your thoughts and suggestions on the matter.

Check the tire sidewall. The tires are the important part of the fuel economy side of things so check them, not the manual.

perhaps i didnt look in the right place... are you referring to the doors, because thats usually where that info is, but i couldnt find it in this car. I'm not exactly savy on the car lingo...

also would the investment in better spark plugs and wires do anything?

The tires themselves will have the correct pressure written on them.

I don't really think they will change your efficiency any. The world seems to argue back and forth over what plugs to use, but the truth it they pretty much all do the same thing.

Just stay away from a "multi-electrode" like a Bosch Platinum +4

The door jamb sticker in my '07 Aveo5 LS says 31 psi with the 15" aluminum wheels/tires.

I lowered them from 37 psi that was in the tires when I bought the car and noticed no loss in MPG, but an incredibly smoother ride.

The tire pressure on the sidewall of tires give the max. load rating at max air pressure. It is not the recommended tire pressure for all around use.

The car companies work in conjunction with the tire manufactures to come up with an ideal pressure and post it in the door jamb on a sticker.

i have an 06 and mine say 44 psi, i always fill them about 4-5psi less than the maximum pressure. this is because of the fact that air expands when it is hot, thus, when you drive around, the tire heats up, creating more pressure.

depending on heat, they can produce 10lbs more air than when cold. For instance drag radials usually have about 3 or 4 lbs of air in them, and in the burnout box, they go to about 13-15 psi. At my dealership, i usually put about 30-35 per tire

I run 35 front, 32 back. 185/60r14 stock tires are supposedly 30 psi all around. This is "cold" tires btw i.e. ambient temp overnight. It'll heat up as you drive, but that's okay.
don't inflate to the max recommended value on the side of the tire. Sure, there's some leeway, but really you're just asking for a high speed blowout.
