      Painting rear drum covers

The drum covers on my rear tires are kinda of rusty and i dont like rust.. has anyone painted their drum covers with a high temp paint? I really wanna do mine black, my car is red so i think red covers would be too much.. how would i go about this? Thanks

First prep the surface by using a wire brush to remove all the rust. Wipe remaining dust off with paint thinner on a rag. Then brush on a coat of Rustoleum brown primer. After that dries, paint it with whatever color of Rustoleum paint you choose. Hi temp paint isn't necessary because the part doesn't get extremely hot.

I just did my covers. I took my orbital sander and sanded the outside smooth

That is awesome!! was it hard to take the drums off? i was thinking about hand sanding them while still on the car and the priming and painting what i can see.. i would be nervous to take the off and bend something or break something in the process, thanks for the write up! Means a lot!

Your not dumb. If you got the two screws, easy just remove them and it pops off. If you don't you're on your own. Different years had different assemblies.

Just try and it and you will see.
