      I've designed and ridden in cars with a well designed air system. If done right, they will outperform struts/shocks/springs due to what's called "exponential pressure" (I believe that's right) which means as the car goes lower on a pressurized bag, the bag carries a densier amount of air due to smaller volume to fill.

      Something like that....but yes, I've seen Rally and Auto-X racers use Air-assist struts because they can tune them on the fly, from the driver's seat.

      I'd be worried about a rock flying into the airbag and rupturing.

      I mean, hell... 2 years ago markko martin's co driver got a rock in his ass... flew from the ground... through the Kevlar... through the body... through the seat... into his ass...

      I do not think that air ride is for looks only, but I do know that a performance oriented air ride suspension has not and most likely will not be developed for our vehicles.... That is why I plan on designing another custom set up.....
