Window switch question (passenger switch OK, but driver's side only works 1 way)

I only saw one other thread and it was just asking about switch removal. I have an 08 Aveo hatchback. My questions are: using the master switch at driver spot for front passenger window it only goes down and not up. Using that doors switch it goes up and down fine. Would this mean the connection is loose or that switch is going out? Can one switch be swapped or does that whole panel need to be replaced?

You'll probably have to replace the whole switch set. If you're looking to DIY, find a pick-n-pull salvage yard where you can go pull the part off yourself. They likely won't have them at other yards, but you can call around.

Ok thanks, got two pick n pull places plus 3 wrecking yards in my city. Hopefully one will have what I need

I think you should make some cleaning on the switch unit by removing the cover which have the buttons and spraying WD-40 extensively and moving the buttons several times. I think it will works because the water from rain and washing the car inside make a layer of salt isolate the button away from the connectors in the unit. Try and tell me.
      Thanks

I know it's been a few weeks, still haven't dove in to look yet, switch did work the other day with a little extra force. I have a tube of dielectric grease I can throw on when I get to it

I wonder if it's possible to repair it.

I just repaired the switch on my electric lawnmower. It was getting harder and harder to make work (more and more pressure required) due to the cumulative effect of arcing over many years. OPened it up , cleaned the contacts, and it works fine now.

I'm sure it's not exactly the same problem in the Aveo, but maybe worth looking at since you'll have to pull the switch assembly out anyway.
