Need assistance on dash

Want to install a switch in blank spot next to dash light rheostat to left of steering wheel on dash face. question is how do I gain access to this area?. Are shiny trim plates held in by spring loaded clips or is there another procedure to remove? '08 aveo sedan

i pulled mine out through the bottom. there is a plug attached to the backside of the blank for power mirrors though, you need to yank that.
