How do I remove the floor center console trim piece 2006 Aveo

I want to remove my trim piece that is on the floor with the shifter and the brake.It is a 5 speed manual 2006 model and the trim is one long piece. Unfortunately, every time I try to remove it, the brake it blocking it or the shifter blocks it. Is there a special way to remove the trim otherwise, how would I go about removing the brake to get clearance for the trim? Thanks.

When I did mine I had the shift knob removed the shifter in 4th and loosed the brake cable up to pull the brake lever almost straight up then I was able to remove it.

I could never figure it out either.. i got it over the brake by taking the boot and popping it out of the hole its in, just take a screwdriver and pry around the boot and it will come out just like the shifter, i just couldnt get mine over the shifter, good luck. Let me know if you get it

So is the official procedure to get the console panel off involve releasing the parking brake? Would appreciate some advice here as my '08 automatic console panel cannot pass over the manual brake handle. thanks all.
