Aveo bought in 2010 - Trouble with the radio/iPod etc?

      Hello,

I bought a new Aveo in February last year, so I'm guessing it's an older model? Seeing as how the internet shows me new Aveos with way better looking sound systems. Anyway, I am 'stuck' with this one. I wanted to hook up my ipod to my radio in order to play music from it. I bought this cable that allows me to do that (using the aux in), but the sounds isn't all that great. When I burn mp3s on a cd, it sounds SO much better than on ipod. I have an ipod nano 3g, and I'm not sure whether it's the ipod, or the cable (can it matter which cable you use? or do they all do the same?) that's causing the sound to be a bit 'meh'. I've included a picture of what my radio looks like. I was also wondering, what is the usb port for? Because I couldnt find any cables that let me hook up a usb stick to that. Please someone help me out here? Thank you!

your the first person i have seen with a USB in the factory radio.

Yes the aux input is very disappointing to me as well as far as sound quality. i would think it you used the USB the sound would be there. I cant tell from the picture, but it looks like a micro USB? you would need tp read your manual, but if you had a traditional mp3 player that was just USB this would be easy.. going from the mac Ipod/phone connection to micro usb is a little harder but still can be done. i would hope it would be full sound quality.

+1....I have a aftermarket radio which has a internal ipod docking port, I have a 2nd Gen Nano that goes into the radio. It sounds amazing, even with two blown speakers

I would assume the stock radio would lack in sound quantity, I wonder....

Mini USB Female to i Phone i Pod i Pad2 charge cable | eBay

Mini usb 5 pin male to micro usb male M/M cable adapter | eBay

I would take a gamble and try to use the ipod through the usb port and see what happens (You need a different M/M though, I think that auction is for a different one).

I will offer an different response as I see things upside down from Aus.

The radio is made for Euro GM-Opel, with European features. First, read the manual!

From my observations, the Aux in socket is a typical Analogue Stereo 3.5mm socket. NOT digital. The audio quality will be similar to cheap earphones.

The mini USB Socket is probably for a Mobile Phone, a digital connection. Again, the manual will be specific.

      cheers

I just bought this mini-usb adapter. The idea is to actually hook up a usb stick to my car radio and hopefully be able to play mp3's from my usb stick. The adapter barely cost me anything so if it doesn't work, it's no big deal. But if it does work, will it sound better than via the aux in cable??

      ps.thanks for your replies!!

I'm with the exact same problem..... did you managhe it withe the USB adapter? I shure prefer connecting the usb direct to the radio, instead Ipod by Audio in....the souns is not so good. When I bought the car the y told me it has USB connection, which I thought it was Usb 2.0 standard and not mini usb.... Does it work with the mini usb / usb female adapter?
