2005 Aveo grill mod

This is my first post to the forums, and my first Aveo. I purchased this '05 from a friend for $2k, and it's been a pretty decent commuter.

For Christmas, my wife got me a nice Kenwood audio system, and that was the only push I needed to keep making this car fun!

It was in pretty good condition when I got it, but there was some weathering and breakage of the cheap plastic wheel covers. So I invested $20 in cheap-but-newer wheel covers.


After finding this forum and the bow-tie-removal grill mod, I had to try that for myself. A screwdriver. a can of black paint, a hacksaw, Dremel sander, and 15 minutes was all it took.


While I'm here, does anyone know of a good source (besides junkyards) to get a replacement for this little black trim piece?

Cool on the grill mod. I wrote that. Of course I can't tell if you just cut the plastic off and gone back and fill it. Gawd I hated that bow tie look!

Right...that bow tie is so ugly. Thanks for writing that grill tute. I didn't go back to fill in the gaps, just cut it off and hoped that it would not be noticeable. For the most part, it's invisible unless you look closely.

Next simple fix will be the rear door trim piece. I'm also considering one of those performance chip mods. I'd like to get a little more juice out of 3rd gear. Need to do more research on those before I put any money into it.

I covered mines in tire stickers, also did the grill mod, look into a Scion tC wing too
