The only way it can be done, is with a resistor on the IAT sensor and some higher octane fuel to prevent detonation. Although these motors aren't high compression engines, because they don't use variable timing, I wouldn't try it without the upgrade in octane gas. I'll be trying it soon as I just got a nice OBD-II reader today and monitor the IAT sensor and Ignition Advance.

But first I have to find out how much advance the car really is using stock.

That sounds about right for a stock engine. With higher octane gas and the resistor mod, you might get another 5 degrees out of it, unless the ecu doesn't allow it.

I am advancing the timing by using UNICHIP. My tuner did some on the road tuning, advances for various rpm until he sees a decrease in G Force pulling. My engine cc is now about 1680cc (originally 1400cc) after boring with 81.0mm forged high compression wiseco pistons. It also uses 285 camshaft grounded in UK. So the timing needed to be advance for better peformances. In addtion, it uses 4Kg flywheel with Opel Clutch. Total weight of flywheel and clutch is abt 7Kg compared to stock 13Kg. Also had Walbro 255 l/hr Fuel Pump and SARD Fuel Regulator, and Ported and polished head. 4-1 Long extractor, decat, and semi flow HotBits exhaust.

It puts out 133.9bhp now at the wheels and 155Nm of torque. Will put up the dyno chart soon.
