      serpentine belt modification

I want to replace the serpentine belt to bypass the a/c compressor. eliminate the a/c. has anybody done that and know what belt size/number is required?

I haven't heard of it being done. However, you can take a piece of string and measure it and figure out what length belt you need from that.

That's what I am thinking. Thanx. Although A/C is used for drying in defrosting, I don't want to trn the A/C pump, (even off), in the winter. -20 degrees, don't need it. and condition of A/C pump bearings questionable. Yes, I can unplug it, or pull the fuse. But, why not eliminate it. I have to believe that these same 1.6 Liter engines were built at some point without A/C option. Just haven't found anything. Thanks for your reply.

Correct, they did come without A/C. There is an idler pulley in place of the A/C unit in that case.
