      oil catch can question

alright from what ive seen and heard your suppose to put the oil catch can in the line from the pcv line to the intake pipe....now i was just on another forum and that said it isnt good to run it that way and i shouldnt be getting oil into the intake from that hose unless my rings are shot so is that guy correct or what? he said it should be put inline with a hose that runs directly to the intake mani im pretty sure every car ive seen has it hooked up the way i have it?

He probably had/has a car that worked the way that he said and now thinks every car works that way.

You are correct Sam. Run it inline with the hose that runs to the intake piping.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

Old car were like that, you ran the hose either to nothing and the fumes would escape to the air or to the exhaust manifold we're it was exhausted with the rest.

Now emission's laws say you need to burn these fumes that's why you need to run the hose to the intake pipe.

Ok, if I move to an emissions state I will need to take off my PCV breather when it's time to get tested

Shouldn't... you're not bypassing the system, you're just preventing oil and condensation from making its way back into the intake manifold and gumming up stuff etc.
If you had a breather instead, that's different.

forgot to mention, most places, it's illegal to modify the oem emissions system...but I doubt they would give you trouble for the filter.
